An integral part of the 90’s Bay Area punk explosion that also spawned bands like Green Day and Jawbreaker, San Francisco’s SAMIAM continue to tour the world, bringing their highly influential brand of melodic punk to fans new and old. After early album releases on New Red Archives, SAMIAM released their major label debut “Clumsy” in 1994, followed later by classics “Your Freaking Me Out” and “Astray”. Taking some time out from 2001-04′ while members focused on other projects (Solea, Knapsack), SAMIAM eventually entered the studio again in 2006 to record their most recent album “Whatever’s Got You Down” (Hopeless Records).
This September SAMIAM will head down under for their first ever Australian Tour. They’ll be joined by Melbourne’s A DEATH IN THE FAMILY who have recently returned from a US tour with The Gaslight Anthem.

Slayer’s Dave Lombardo has been speaking out about the new Slayer album, ‘World Painted Blood’.
Word coming from Slayer’s Dave Lombardo suggests that the new Slayer album could go down as one of the best of the band’s career.
Speaking to Sun Media, Lombardo has said:
“I have to say that it compares to the classics — ‘Reign in Blood’, ‘South of Heaven’ and ‘Seasons in the Abyss’. And I wouldn’t say that if I didn’t mean it. (Tom Araya’s) vocal melody and singing approach is very listener-friendly — not in a way where people are going to say, ‘Dude, they went commercial.’ No way. It’s just more melodic.”
“People are scared of the word melody because maybe it sounds like a happy word. But you can have very dark, extreme music with melody. It’s not something to be afraid of. There’s only good music and bad music — and good music has hooks and something to carry you through and entertain you.”
Blue Murder regret to advise that the Fear Factory Australia / New Zealand tour has been cancelled. The band advised their decision today citing “recording commitments”. As previously hinted at, the Deftones have now officially confirmed that they have been moving ahead with work on an entirely new album aside from the effort they already previously completed, “Eros“. The group are currently still tracking new material for it and had the following to say about it:
“The songs recorded for Eros are very special to us as they are the latest with Chi (and we certainly hope not the last); they have history and significant meaning to us. However, as we neared completion on Eros, we realized that this record doesn’t best encompass and represent who we are currently as people and as musicians. And although those songs will see the light of day at some point, we collectively made the decision that we needed to take a new approach, and with Chi’s condition heavy on our minds while doing so. We needed to return to the studio to do what we felt was right artistically. Our inspiration and unity as a band is stronger than it has ever been before and we needed to channel that energy into our music, and deliver to our fans what you rightly deserve: the best Deftones record that we can make.”
They further went on to state:
“The decision to hold off on releasing Eros has no connection with Chi’s condition or anything associated. This was, and is, purely a creative decision by the band to write, record, and deliver an amazing product. As a result we feel like this is the best record we’ve ever written. And although Chi is not playing bass with us, his presence is dramatically felt in our hearts and on our minds everyday when we step into that studio, and you will feel it in the music.”
