Times Of Grace, the new project featuring Jesse Leach of Seemless/ex-Killswitch Engage fame and Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, has been shelved by the groups label for the time being. Leach himself had the following to offer on the situation:
“I have gotten more emails & messages than I can count about this project. First of all thank you so much for your interest! I am very happy to announce I just listened to the album for the first time in months the other day & it reduced me to tears. I couldn’t be more proud of it & happy that Adam & I finally made a record after years of talking about it.
So now on to the “bad news” for all of you anxious people. The “record label” that picked this album up has in fact shelved it for an unspecified amount of time. This has been done for strategic & political reasons… This is why you haven’t heard any updates from me etc. etc. I am trying my best to keep it out of my head. I feel like the masterpiece of my career is just sitting there. I of course can’t let anyone hear it or really give any more details. Lets just hope this record label know exactly what they are doing. So in reality I don’t think this album will see a release this year at all. Lets hope it makes it out in 2010.”
Jesse Leach has been busy as of late with another project emerging recently called The Empire Shall Fall. The band have recently finished up tracking the drums for their new effort and are continuing forward with the sessions for the outing. The band hope to have it all wrapped up by August. Those unfamiliar with the group can check them out here.
The title track from Devildriver‘s upcoming new album “Pray For Villains” has been posted online as a free mp3 download here (sign-up required.) The album itself will see a July 14th release date through Roadrunner.
Various members of the metal/rock world are teaming up to support Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who recently came off of life-support for the first time since his car accident last November.
Korn bassist Fieldy, Slipknot’s Jim Root, current Korn drummer Ray Luzier, Brian ‘Head’ Welch and Sevendust’s Clint Lowery are teaming up for an instrumental tune to raise funds for Chi Cheng.
The Deftones bassist received positive news when he was taken off of life-support for the first time last week.
The National Day Of SLAYER has apparently made an appeal to the Obama White House to acknowledge “the world’s first metal holiday” in a public proclamation on June 6th.
In a press release, the organization emphasizes the significance of heavy metal as a cultural movement and “hopes that President Obama will privately listen to Slayer on June 6th like so many of his constituents”.
The IDoS Task Force has also drafted a hilarious resolution for Obama to employ in his acknowledgment of the Slayer-themed celebration and reportedly mailed a copy of Slayer’s Reign In Blood to the White House to help expedite the process.
In the meantime, Slayer frontman Tom Araya made an appearance in an exclusive video posted today on the International Day Of Slayer homepage. He genially endorses the site’s efforts on behalf of the band and gives a brief recap of their studio and touring agenda for the summer.

Maybe we should be taking up the cause here in Australia! K-Rudd is already into Cannibal Corpse (so we hear), so it’s only a slight step sideways over to Slayer! BRING ON THE NATIONAL DAY OF METAL!!!!
Rise Against have posted a new video for their song “Hero Of War“, which is taken off the bands latest album ‘Appeal To Reason‘ which came out in 2008.
The band posted the following about the new video:
“We’ve just completed our new video for the song “Hero Of War” off of our record, Appeal To Reason. “Hero Of War” is the story of one soldier, not all soldiers, as he battles not just the war around him, but the war that rages within. Inspired by true events, we were given the choice to either document the tribulations of these times as they unfold around us, or ignore them. To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. “Hero Of War” is our attempt to lift the stigma that surrounds everything from the skyrocketing suicide rate of troops, torture, internal sexual abuse, an under-funded VA, and the growing number of military personnel fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they return home. We hope this song and this video help the simmering dialogue about these problems evolve into a rolling boil.”
