Rise Against have released a new track from their upcoming album “Endgame“, listen to “Survivor Guilt” now at RockSound.tv.
Slipknot have announced the live replacement for bassist Paul Gray who passed away last year. Slipknot‘s original guitarist Donnie Steele will be taking over bass duties for their upcoming shows in 2011. Read the bands statement below:
“For their upcoming shows in 2011, Slipknot has asked Donnie Steele to fill in for Paul Gray on bass. Donnie, as some may recall, was the original guitar player in Slipknot and had actually reconnected with Paul in recent years. Said the band on their decision, “Donnie was in the band at the very beginning, and rather than get an outsider, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to Paul to play with someone from within the family.
Donnie was great friends with Paul and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate his memory than with someone who was there with us at the very beginning. The eight of us are looking forward to being onstage again and honoring Paul’s legacy with our families in Europe and Brazil this summer.”
You can also read what drummer Joey Jordison has to say about their upcoming European tour in the Kerrang! Magazine excerpts below:
Kerrang!: What made SLIPKNOT want to play Sonisphere [festivals] this year?
Joey: “They approached us. Initially we were still grieving over Paul — which we always will — and our initial reaction was ‘no.’ Because the whole situation was still really, really new, and it was still in the air, and we just didn’t know. But then we thought about it, and thought about the amount of time involved. I talked to Shawn [Crahan, SLIPKNOT percussionist] and said, ‘We have to do this for Paul, to have closure and give tribute to our friend.’ So, people are gonna see the most emotional SLIPKNOT shows of all time. I’m not gonna let the cat out of the bag and say what we’ve got planned, but don’t miss it. It’s gonna be absolutely insane.”
Kerrang!: You used the word “closure.” Do you think this is going to be a big part of your grieving process?
Joey: “We’ll never have complete closure. He was my best friend ever. He was my musical soulmate; we did everything together. But, I mean, Paul, no matter what… it’s almost a disgrace to not do it. SLIPKNOT will never die. As long as we’re together, it just won’t. When it’s time for us to end, we’ll know when it’s time. SLIPKNOT is my baby. It is my life. It means everything. Everything I do means the world to me, but when it comes down to it, SLIPKNOT… that’s my blood. [These shows] will be the ultiamte triumph. Trust me, it’ll be well worth the wait, man.”
Kerrang!: It’ll be very weird walking onto that stage, though, won’t it?
Joey: “It’s going to be bizarre. I think, honestly, Paul’s with us in spirit. He’s with me every day. It’s going to be a really, really explosive show. It’s gonna be good for all of us. There’s no negativity, we’re not pissed off at anyone. But I have to do this. I haven’t put [my mask] on since everything happened. Nobody’s put their mask back on. But when I do, and when all of us do, it’s gonna be… we’re waiting with bated breath for it.”
Arch Enemy have released the album artwork for their upcoming album “Khaos Legions” due out later in the year, check it out below:
Between The Buried And Me will be releasing a new 30 minute EP due out in April titled “The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues“. The EP is expected to be the first of a two part series. The track listing is as follows:
01 – Specular Reflection
02 – Augment Of Rebirth
03 – Lunar Wilderness
Listed to a sample of “Specular Reflection“:
“The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues” will introduce two human characters who live in different planes of existence, separated by millions of light years. We find that each is confronted with similar personal issues that they need to reckon with. Both characters make decisions that will change their lives, and perhaps the course of the universe, forever.
Musically, it sounds like Between The Buried And Me. The record has elements of aggression, beauty, quirkiness, and pure cacophony. For “Part 1″, we establish several themes which I’m sure will be revisited in the lengthier “Part 2″, which is something we really look forward to. We love to expand on simple ideas and see where they take us.”

Dredg will be releasing their new album “Chuckles and Mr Squeezy” in April/May. Details and the cover art for the new album can be seen below:
“The alternative rock band dredg from San Francisco can note a constantly growing number of followers and lovers since they decided to play music together more than 15 years ago, in 1995.
As there have been several rumors on the Internet recently about the successor of THE PARIAH, THE PARROT, THE DELUSION we are now happy to announce that dredg are finally going to release their fifth studio album CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY in late April/early May in Europe (outside of G/S/A) and on May 3, 2011 the U.S. Those who are expecting the record to be a consistent continuance of THE PARIAH, THE PARROT, THE DELUSION will no doubt be surprised: this album is completely different from everything dredg have ever done before.
It took the band members almost eight months of exchanging song-material via e-mail to finish the album–a process producer Dan The Automator (Gorillaz, Kasabian, etc.) was also involved in right from the early beginnings. His influence becomes most apparent in the songs “The Tent,” “Sun Goes Down” and “Before it Began” where he also took an active part in the songwriting.
Even though there is a lot of variation in tones and tempo, singer Gavin sums up the general sound of CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY as “Dark Pop”: a dark undertone is giving the songs some kind of a contemplative self-analysis – but in the end the album is still characterized by its optimism. “There is a certain darkness to it,” Gavin agrees. “A lot of our music is ultimately positive but can be conceived as sad as well. It has these two sides that oppose each other, but manage to reconcile in the music.”
With CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY dredg is breaking new grounds in their career – in a new, yet unexplored direction. The influence Dan The Automator had on this record is obvious. His status as a producer and co-worker lead him to an additional role as a guide, giving the band the impulse to work harder, to take a closer look at themselves and finally take this as an inspiration for creating their music and lyrics.
The last 15 years of development brought dredg to an unexpected, yet welcomed point in their career. “For me this is a renewal kind of record,” Gavin says. “It feels different and in some ways it feels like a new band. That was my goal when working with the band and with Dan–to make something we’d never done. Hopefully people can see the band in a new light. We can mold to different things and there is a future for the band when it comes to creating.”
Tour dates for 2011 will be announced soon.”
