All Shall Perish bassist Mike Tiner has recently revealed in an interview the events surrounding the departure of vocalist Eddie Hermida to Suicide Silence. Check out the full interview at this location.
“I first heard of Eddie potentially joining Suicide Silence in March while we were on tour in Japan. When he first brought it up, he made it seem as if he was only considering recording with them, but then as he further explained everything, it became very clear that he wanted to join Suicide Silence. Everyone in that room had the same reaction: ‘How are you going to possibly have time to do both bands?’ Eddiereassured us a dozen times over that both bands would be able to coexist and work together with one another, with him as the vocalist of both bands.
As we had always trusted Eddie before, after a lot of long conference calls, we gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to wait till there was an actual scheduling conflict and cross that bridge then. We already had Metallica‘s Orion Music and our own MTL: South of the Border Tour on the books, so we went ahead with Eddie for those shows, and they all turned out very well.
It seemed like maybe everything would actually work out OK. Then, after Eddie was officially in Suicide Silence (but before it went public), we got an offer from Death Angel to play two or three shows with them, all in California. Eddie in particular wanted to do these shows and pushed hardest for them, so we confirmed them. Then a week or two later he tells our management that he actually can’t do the shows…because of Suicide Silence.
That’s when Suicide Silence‘s management informed us of all of the things All Shall Perish would and would not be “allowed” to do. All Shall Perish could not play a show until Eddie was well “established” as the new singer of Suicide Silence. Suicide Silence‘s management told us that they would have to be well into their new album and touring cycle before All Shall Perish could be seen again with Eddie.
That is easily a year of All Shall Perish not being “allowed” to do anything; possibly more than a year. There were other rules, too, but this one was huge. When we heard this, we immediately all got on the phone with Eddie and asked him how him being in both bands could ever work, especially after this whole Death Angel thing. Eddie still insisted it could work but also maintained that Suicide Silence would be his priority. We asked Eddie if he was quitting and he said, “No, I’m not. If you want me out of All Shall Perish, you’ll have to fire me.”
Now, I ask all of you reading this, both All Shall Perish fans and Suicide Silencefans: what would happen if you worked at Starbucks and you told your boss that you took a job at Coffee Bean across the street, that Coffee Bean would be your new priority and that you wouldn’t be able to pickup a single shift at Starbucks for at least a year or more, followed by: “But I’m NOT quitting!”
Did Eddie “quit” All Shall Perish or was Eddie “asked to leave” All Shall Perish? You tell me.”
A post made on Tool‘s website gives an update into the bands progress into the writing for their next release.
“A couple of weeks ago I visited the Tool loft to try and get some kind of idea as to how things were progressing with the writing sessions now that the band was back hard at it. Well, I am happy to report that there has indeed been a lot of progress as far as new material goes, especially with the lengthy so-called “epic’ piece that the guys have been arranging for quite some time now.
Shortly after I arrived, before taking to their respective instruments, Adam suggested that everyone should first have a listen to what they had recorded during the previous session in order to make sure that all were in agreement with certain recently added sections. And listen they did. In fact, to give you some idea – my parking meter expired twice before they were done.
And judging from the smiles on their faces, it seemed that, for the most part, Danny,Adam and Justin liked very much what they were hearing and that after some finishing touches, the ‘epic’ tune would be ready for Maynard to do his thing. (During some of the more melodic passages, I was trying to envision the vocals which, to me, brings it all together.)
After a bit of discussion about some rapid-fire triplets in one section, I asked Danny if he was going to be able to knock out the piece in one take when it came time to track it? His response was to smile and bury his head in his hands, which I will let the readers interpret for themselves. As for the song itself, without giving too much away, it features complex time signatures, interesting harmonic structure and expanding effects processing – similar to what fans of Tool have come to expect – only now, perhaps not surprisingly, the band has taken it to the next level.
Okay, having given you this bit of an update, please note that I am NOT suggesting in any way that the band is ready to go into the studio any time soon. I honestly have no idea as far as any recording timetables go. I am also not sure how many other songs are near completion at this point. Nor do I know at what stage the vocals might be at for ANY of the new material.
All I am saying is that as far as this one particular song goes (albeit, a very lengthy one), it was a LOT closer to being finished (instrumentally, speaking) than the last time that I heard it, and that fans of Tool‘s music will certainly not be disappointed.”
Winds of Plague have released a new track and lyric video for “Sewer Mouth”. The track features guest vocals from The Acacia Strain‘s Vincent Bennett. The track is set to be included on the bands upcoming album “Resistance” set for release on October 29.
Lamb of God have released their trailer for the upcoming documentary “As Palaces Burn” 10th Anniversary Edition. The documentary will be included in the bands remixed and remastered version of the album which is set for release on November 11.
For Today have released their new track “Fight The Silence”. The band have announced they are planning to release their new album sometime in 2014. The band had the following to say regarding the track:
“One of the most devastating issues facing our modern global culture is the issue of human trafficking. No person, of any race, religion, nationality, or economic standing should ever have to live in forced subjection to another. There are over 27 MILLION people in slavery worldwide today (this is more than at any other time in human history), and yet, in the grand scheme of things, there is very little being done politically to bring this tragedy to an end.
So, in light of this heinous injustice, For Today has teamed up with the A21 Campaign to help shine a light on the issue, and raise funds to continue the global effort to rescue and rehabilitate those who have been victimized, as well as to oppose and prosecute those who are responsible for the buying and selling of other human beings.”
There is a global network of sick, selfish people preying on the desperation of the broken and impoverished. Let’s stand up and let our voices be heard for the sake of these voiceless captives. It’s time we stand up, speak out, and Fight the Silence.”

Ex-All Shall Perish and newly recruited Suicide Silence front man Eddie Hermida has recently spoken about his admission into the band and also about his departure from All Shall Perish. Check out the full interview at this location.
“At first their manager contacted me and said, “Hey Ed, the guys are thinking about picking themselves up and would like to hear what someone else sounds like on a previously recorded track.” They said it was more for the reference than anything else. After I recorded the “You Only Live Once” track they liked it so much that we started exploring ways to make something work.”
“The full-time aspect for Suicide Silence was always part of the deal. Just know that I did everything in my power to stay in All Shall Perish and work both projects. The ASP boys will say that I quit when I decided to take the reigns in SS. I will say that I was asked to step away by my bandmates because they didn’t want my schedule with SS to interfere with their future. Either way All Shall Perish has my heart and soul built into it and I will always support the work we did together.”
